German teen Formula 3 driver Sophia Florsch, 17, is recovering well following a lengthy operation to repair a fractured vertebrae. The injury, the result of a 276km/h crash at the Macau F3 race, was sustained when Florsch’s car became airborne and crashed backwards into a stand. During the 11 hour operation bone was taken from her hip to repair the damage.
After surgery Florsch told her fans on social media that she was well and in good spirits.
